Checking Your Blood Sugar
How Do I Check my blood glucose levels?
- Purchase a blood glucose kit online or at your local pharmacy, can often get a starter kit for around $15
- After washing your hands, insert a test strip into your meter.
- Adjust the lancing device for the correct amount of pressure needed to for a small poke and blood.
- Use your lancing device on the side of your fingertip to get a drop of blood. Don't worry this does not hurt bad! If it is very painful, adjust to use less pressure with the lance and change fingers
- Touch and hold the edge of the test strip to the drop of blood, and wait for the result.
- Your blood glucose level will appear on the meter's display.
Note: All meters are slightly different, so refer to your user's manual for specific instructions.
